In this egg I will show you how to turn your start button to whatever you would like
Ok to start off you will need the program Resource Hacker.
Go to Resource Hacker Next extract the program.
Now we are going to open the explorer.exe in ResHacker. explorer.exe is located on the drive you have installed windows on in a folder called WINDOWS.
now on the left hand side of ResHacker there will be 10 different things that you can select go to
String Table > 37 then select 1033
On line 578 in quotes you want to change that to what ever you want but keep the quotes!
Next hit compile 5cript then save as. You want to save it as explorer1.exe. In the SAME folder as explorer.exe.
After that you can close out of ResHacker. Now click start run regedit.
Go to Hkey_local_machine > Software > Microsoft >Windows NT >CurrentVersion>WinLogon
When there it should look like this. In not click on WinLogon again.
Next find Shell. Double click it. Now you will type under value data: explorer1.exe
Then click ok close regedit and log off of you account.
Then log back on. Now your start button should say what you made it say. In my case Tyler002!
Good luck and if you did something wrong and when you log on nothing is there then hit ctrl + alt + delete
under Applications select new task and then type in regedit. then go to the Shell file again and switch ecplorer1.exe back to explorer.exe. Save it and log off again. It should be back to normal. Good Luck and have fun!
Jan 11, 2007 8:21 pm - I tried it and my computer wouldn’t load all the way. I was able to ctrl+alt+dlt and find out that explorer1 or explorer was not running. I just ran regedit and changed back to the explorer and restarted it. Worked fine. Maybe it was something on my part, or I wasn’t pacient enough. 3*** because it sounds like it works, but I cant do it.
